Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Upgrades from 22.04 to 24.04 also don't work at the moment, which is why they're not being offered automatically.

I suggest as a first step you should try upgrading to just 22.04 right now.

affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → ubuntu

Although since you only installed (12.04?) a week ago, I suggest the cleanest and simplest solution is to start over and install 24.04 from scratch: https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop
