Bug Description

Hello,
I have upgraded both my 22.04 machines to ubuntu 24.04 sucessfully. The direct upgrade from 22.04 to 24.04 fails.
So on both machines i had to upgrade from 22.04 to 23.10 then do updates then a final upgrade to 24.04 development branch.

I tried the daily build iso as a dvd install and it failed twice.

So it seems like you have to upgrade 22.04 to 23.10 then do a final upgrade to 24.04 development branch.

The dvd installer failed on me twice.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2062026/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Which daily builds?
How did it fail?
What did any error messages say?
Does this still happen with today's ISO, that is 20240420?

Marking incomplete as there's nothing for anyone to investigate and maybe fix.
Please provide the requested information and change the status back to 'New'.
Thanks

Hi Paul,

I downloaded the daily build iso and burnt it to dvd about at the
beggining of last week. The dvd booted on my system installed to about
70% then i got a error that just said installer failed.

The first time i burnt the iso i burnt it on 22.04.

The second time I downloaded the daily build from Apr 11, and the hash
value matched and the iso couldnt be burnt on my 24.04 machine. Even
etcher said the image file was invalid, yet i used dd to burn the image
to usb sucessfully , install on my laptop just refused to open the
installer.

Therefore I had to upgrade 22.04 to 23.10 then the 24.04 like i did on
my tower pc. The direct upgrade path from 22.04 to 24.04 did not work on
my laptop either(just installer failed error).

To date both my machines are on 24.04 via upgrade 22.04 to 23.10 then
the 24.04.

I will not be doing any more testing on my machines right now, I have
some health issues to attend to.

Hope this information helps you.
