Bug Description

In Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron, Network Manager is very slow in recognizing available wireless networks and also very slow in making a wireless connection. When it fails to make a connection (often), it keeps trying and sends CPU usage skyhigh (Intel Core 2 Duo). Only a reboot will remedy this: switching back to a wired connection is impossible then.

This is strange, because Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon works flawlessly with this wireless USB dongle (Sitecom WL-172).

The output of lshw is attached.
