[hardy] login failed on 2.6.24-12 generic

Bug Description
the gdm logon doesnt start. the console logon crashes with the folowing lines:
...
malloc: ../bash/
free: called with unallocated block argument
Aborting.
malloc: ../bash/
free: called with unallocated block argument
Aborting...
malloc: ../bash/
free: called with unallocated block argument
Aborting...init: tty6 main process ended, respawning
after some time the boot continues, goes to graphic mode and the screen is blank and starts to enlighten (from top of screen from green to whole screen changing to white)
When i try to startup in recovery mode this lines is shown me and then nothing:
malloc: unkown:0: assertion botched
free: called with unallocated block argument
last command: startx
Aborting...Aborted
init: rcS-sulogin main process (4632) terminated with status 134
can you help me how i can fix this or logon to get latest updates/fixes?
