Bug Description

I'm using Kubuntu 7.10. In some KDE applications (for example, KTorrent), Help-> <appname> handbook opens a KDE Help Centre window with "There is no documentation available for /ktorrent/index.html." If there is no documentation available, the application say so itself (or perhaps not have a Handbook item in the menu at all), instead of opening a useless KDE Help Centre window.

This happens on Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 3.5.9 too. For example, with KTorrent, KBFX configurator, and KDEnlive.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release (Intrepid 8.10)? Thanks in advance.

This issue *still* exists, on Kubuntu 9.10. For example, in KTorrent, Help->KTorrent handbook results in KDE help centre opening with a modal dialog box saying "The file or folder help:/ktorrent/index.html does not exist.", and "There is no documentation available for /ktorrent/index.html." in the main window.

1. KDE Help Centre should not open if there is no help to display.
2. There should always be help to display.

(This bug is about point 1, though)

How do I mark this as affecting https://launchpad.net/kde ? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/198708/+choose-affected-product tells me that there is no project called KDE

Hi,
It has been marked against meta-kde which should be OK for now so don't worry.
Can you run the following and tell us what version you are using please?
apt-cache policy kdebase
Thank you.
