unable to simulate right click on touchscreen

I am using Ubuntu on a Raspberry Pi with a touch screen (no physical keyboard or mouse

1) Ubuntu 21.10
2) unknown
3) when following these instructions (https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/a11y-right-click.html.en) I expected to be able to simulate right click by touching and holding on the screen.
4) nothing. all of my taps are interpreted as primary button clicks.
