[hardy]desktop incons sometimes do not load. If I CTRL ALT BKSPC it shows again

Sometimes after logging in, i do not get my desktop icons. Instead i just get my wallpaper. no icons.

When i CTRLALT BKSPC to restart X it starts to show my desktop

I am on hardy on latest -generic kernel and use nvidia-glx-new

Also happens on my GF's Dell Latitude D630.
