Bug Description

After installing updates to jammy 22.04 on my pi 4, i was getting warning messages about the vfat partition mounted on /boot/firmware being low on space. The updates included kernel updates. My workaround for now is rm /boot/firmware/*.bak

Rather than muck around with gparted, I will just delete these *.bak files after each kernel upgrade. I plan to do a fresh install with each point release until this and some other bugs (which I will file soon) are gone.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Libera.chat.

I have no idea which package sets the size of the vfat partition. I downloaded the image, wrote it to a usb3-connected dual drive (raid1) enclosure and plugged it into a pi 4. Booted and followed the instructions from there. I'm running mirrored 2 tb drives. If the installer offered me the option of expanding this partition I would have been generous and expanded it to at least 1 gigabyte
