Bug Description

Make - HP
Model - Spectre Folio Convertible-13
Setup - Dual-boot

User has upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04 sometime back. Ubuntu 20.04 was working just fine until the past few weeks where he has come across the following issues.

User provided the following information regarding the issues.

1) Not restarting: When I start my machine - it goes on the orange "Ubuntu" screen - and nothing happens. I have to force the shutdown and restart. When it restarts, I go into the recovery mode - and then if I press resume - it starts. Every time I don't take that step do from the grub menu, it just hangs. I've tried updating packages, and grub - but same issue

2) Screen - Earlier I could connect to an external monitor with all settings displayed. Now that option is no longer visible therefore it does not recognize the external monitor. "Unknown Display" is shown for the internal display.

3) Brightness - I am unable to increase or lower the brightness on the laptop. Likely related to (2)

User has performed the following 2 commands in terminal

[1] sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y - Installed a set of packages but it has not resolved any of the issues mentioned.

[2] sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall - No drivers to install

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1881782/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner.

I'm setting the status of this bug to 'Invalid' as it's not seen any activity for some time and relates to multiple issues. If you are still seeing the problems that you reported when using a currently maintained release of Ubuntu then please open new bug reports against specific packages for each problem.

Please note:

1) Bug reports raised against the Ubuntu project without specifying a package will seldom reach those that can help resolve issues. See comment #1.
2) No one developer/maintainer will deal with all issues which is why separate reports are needed.

Changed in ubuntu:
status: New → Invalid
