xchroot adds X11 and pulseaudio forwarding to chroot. Besides this it allows to chroot as user. You may comfortably create .desktop file links for file associations and dekstop menus to applications inside a chroot environment which will then automatically use xchroot to execute the desired application.

Xchroot 2.7.4-7 comes with many new features. Dbus session creation and /dev/shm mounting satisfy the need even of exigent GUI programs like the Otter browser. The new version has a /media and subdirectory automounter which is especially useful for mirroring mounts of removable media. It is even possible to run a whole desktop session like KDE, Gnome or Xfce in an xchroot container. Desktop link creation for the GUI menu is included. I would really like to see this program in Ubuntu! The desired package includes an offline copy of https://www.elstel.org/xchroot/ as a bonus which made it necessary to pack the xchroot source .tar along with the offline copy of the web page into the .src.tar.gz.
