Bug Description

Hardy Alpha3 Jeos installation gives the red screen of death at the Select and Install Software stage, trying to install in VMWare Server 1.04. I can install Grub from the main installation menu, but on reboot I just get a Please Wait... message and no further.

I can confirm this with VMware player.
I did go trough all the possible situations:
- With or without lvm
- Changed from German - Switzerland to English - Switzerland
The installer still asks for a download of additional language files and fails with the read alert.
Manually installed grub and rebooted. Got the same error as discribed above.
But!... while waiting and writing this, the loader goes ahead and fails later with:
... check root= bootarg cat /proc/cmdline
or missing modules, devices cat /proc/modules ls /dev
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/<here comes the uuid> does not exist. Dropping to a shell!

Then, busybox shows up with (initramfs) prompt.
