Keeps coming up with incorrect resolution and defaulting to lower resolution

Bug Description
Having troubles with interfaces, HD shows problems and my usb ports are not connecting. Please advise. I did a complete reinstall in december 2018.

"incorrect resolution" is because you have booted into recovery mode, which disables proper resolutions via the "nomodeset" kernel parameter.
Please reboot and as soon as the purple screen appears tap "Esc". Now select a normal kernel to boot that is not recovery mode.
If the problem still persists after that then please run:
dmesg > dmesg.txt
and send us the new 'dmesg.txt' file.
