User is not always able to log in or pass authorization

The title is pretty self-explaining.

I try to log in, input my username/password and then hit enter -- desktop begins to show up and nothing happens. I can still move mouse, but there is just plain brown background without anything. So I press Alt+Ctrl+Backspace and repeat from the first step a couple of times before I actually log in.

The same problem happens to, for example, gnome-screensaver. When I press Alt+Ctrl+L or select 'Lock screen', it works fine. Then I move mouse/hit some key and authorization windows pops up. I input my password, it says 'authentication...' and it may stay this way frozen until I press Alt+Ctrl+Backspace to log out.

Notable: if I input wrong password, the screensaver also may hang.

I think this bug may be a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/gnome-session/+bug/49594 (Bonobo-activation-server sometimes is not killed after session restart, leading to many unexpected problems). Though symptoms is a bit different.

GNOME 2.21.4;
gnome-screensaver: 2.20.0-2ubuntu1;
gnome-session: 2.20.2-1ubuntu2;

Console-based programs (sudo) and some graphical-based ones (gksudo) DO work normally.

I have the same problem in alpha 3

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the development version of Ubuntu, Hardy Heron?

Okay, I tried it with Hardy Heron now, it seems to be fixed by updates.

Fixed by updates in Hardy, though I cannot say were it recent updates or they came out a while ago.
