Bug Description

Steps to reproduce:
1: Open two windows (two gedits will do)
2: Type something in both windows
3: in one window select/highlight some text (I did this in a 2mb+ text file so I could easily find the text I want to be looking at)
4: in the other window select some text

Actual results: The text in the first window becomes unhighlighted
Expected results: both windows should have highlighted text

Intrepid now. Problem still exists.

Try this:
Open a file in gedit
CTRL+A to select all
Goto a firefox window
CTRL+A in firefox

The highlighting in gedit is lost.

Yes, when hitting ctrl+a the highlighting is lost.
Why do you consider this as a problem?

My use case: as I poorly explained in my original report, I had a very large file open and wanted to "bookmark" a certain line so I could scroll elsewhere in the file and still remember which line is important. While doing this I wanted to be able to copy and paste on other windows without losing my highlighting on the original window.

I think highlighting should be remembered between windows, instead of only being allowed one global highlight.
