Bug Description

Today i noticed that my cpu usage was quite high (~30%) while doing nothing cpu intensive. Top revealed that the process eating up the cpu was actually ksoftirqd. After trying out somethings, I found out that this is triggered when loading the cx8800 module with modprobe cx8800. The cx8800 is something I need in order to use my TV/FM tuner card (a Pixelview PlayTV Pro Ultra). In order to use this card properly, one needs to supply "options cx88xx card=27" (as it isn't detected correctly out of the box) and then reload cx88xx and cx8800.

Once the cx8800 module is loaded, ksoftirqd jumps to ~30% cpu usage. Note that this is true even if the tv tuner is not actually used.

Nothing really bad happens of course, and everything works, but I suspect this high cpu usage must be a bug in the cx8800 module.

The system is running Gutsy.
