Bug Description

I am running the Ubuntu's livecd and everything goes well until i don't change
the defaults hostname ( "ubuntu" ) manually in a shell to any other.

Because when i do it all the Gnome desktop stop responding to every program
launch via mouse or menus[Alt+F1]. ( on click events and enter via menus ) , it
happens
no matter if i change the hostname in a graphical Terminal or a Console (
Ctrl+Alt+F1 ). And all the aplications that where opened before the hostname
change continues running without any problem , I tried it running the Gaim Chat
client , This Web browser windows ( firefox ) and some few window terminals.

The Consoles dont stop responding in this case , just the Gnome Desktop . When I
am in the Blocked mode ( hostname changed ) i can go to any console number and
go back to the Xwindow system whitout any problem.

I dont know if its any problem due to being a livecd or any other related
problem , but i tried to help the community someway. I love linux because its a
great if not the best operating system multipurpouses.

You say that the problem only exists when you start applications from the menus;
does that mean it works fine from the terminal?

why do you change the hostname ? that probably breaks the xorg authentification
for the application

gnome-common is a set of build tools, that's not the right place for this bug.
