Bug Description

I would like to request that all dependancies should be reduced to the absolute minimum for each packages and libraries.

In current (and past) version of Ubuntu (aspecially after updating the system to a never version), most dependancies are getting messed up and some times one packages are depending from another and the second ones from the first ones that there is created a loop with makes unable to uninstall, re-install the packages. Many times if I (or probably other users) want to install some new packages after system update, they require packages (or libraries) with are unavaliable.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1652631/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported issues in a timely manner.

Ubuntu developers rarely see bug reports raised against the Ubuntu project in general. However, the changes you are requesting aren't really a bug and require more discussion which should be done on an appropriate mailing list to which Ubuntu developers *do* subscribe.

http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community/mailinglists or https://lists.ubuntu.com/ might be a good place to start for determining which mailing list to use.

I'm closing this issue now as it has not attracted any comments in the five years or more since it was raised.

I would like to add to my post an information that oftenly it comes to the situation that after updating one package, it breakes another one, with requires a dependant package with is unavaliable in the repository.

Maybe the repository maintainers should look up to this case and do something to fix it ?

Michael, in the situation that you describe bug reports should be raised against the specific package(s) affected by the update.

Hello Paul and thanks for your answer. The problem is, that this case is more server global one and does apply too many packages. Listing them either here or in separate ticket's would be annoying from the reporting side, plus I know that people here are volunteers who have also their busy lives.

Thereof, this case should be given to the repository maintainers to check why does such things were even able to happen.
