Bug Description

When booting Gustys 32bit LiveCD, it drops to terminal after reporting the following errors:

SQUASHFS error: sb_bread failed reading block 0x989c1
SQUASHFS error: Unable to read fragment cache block [2626b921]
SQUASHFS error: Unable to read page, block 2626b921, size 4ea7
SQUASHFS error: sb_bread failed reading block 0x989c1

Fedora 8 Gnome failed to boot as well, Fedora 8 KDE did, and Kubuntu failed to boot. PCLinuxOS boots but fails to install.
This is with the power cable plugged IN. KDE distros appear to handle it better than GNOME. (possibly, im not certain)

To install Ubuntu on my Santa Rosa chipset laptop, I had to fully charge it, boot from the LiveCD which worked fine, and install, which had no errors.

If the power cable is plugged IN, and im ripping a CD in Sound Juicer it drops to 0.8x times speed also DVD playback becomes jerky. I believe this is to do something to do with DMA. When the the laptop is running off the battery I can get almost 12x times ripping speeds and DVD playback is fine with no jerkyness at all.

My laptop spec can be found at this website:

http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NNB-577

it doesnt state it on the website but it is a PM 965 Chipset.

I am very willing do post more information, and help with any sugestions on how to get this fix, or supply you with more information.

Please delete this bug, as it was a hardware problem NOT Ubuntu or any other GNU/Linux distribution
