Bug Description
The OpenOffice.org applications menu entries are bugged in Xubuntu.
The default entry in the desktop file looks like:
Exec=ooffice -writer %U
Xfce does not support options after the command so it should be altered to:
Exec="ooffice -writer %U"
Otherwise you don't start the desired application directly but an intermediate menu where you then can create a new file and select the correct application.

The bug has also been reported and confirmed in Xfce: http:// bugzilla. xfce.org/ show_bug. cgi?id= 2430
And a diff file is presented here: http:// rlworkman. net/pkgs/ sources/ current/ openoffice. org-2.3. 0/desktop- file-fix- 2.3.diff
Although the Icon= changes can be skipped - they won't be needed. That's to maintain backward compatibility for older Slackware versions here.
