Bug Description

Upstream (Debian), the php-pear package is no longer built from src:php5, but now from its own src:php-pear package.

URL: http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-php/php-pear.git (debian/sid branch)
License: PHP (I believe)
Notes: Currently, src:php5 provides php-pear 5.6.16+dfsg-1{,ubuntu1}.
This is a request to provide 1:1.10.1+submodules+notgz-3. I am unsure if this will break versioned dependencies that might already exist against php-pear.

This is in anticipation of migrationg PHP7.0 to main, which requires the updated version of php-pear to support PHP7.0.

This bug is tagged needs-packaging which identifies it as a request for a new package in Ubuntu. As a part of the managing needs-packaging bug reports specification, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/NeedsPackagingBugs, all needs-packaging bug reports have Wishlist importance. Subsequently, I'm setting this bug's status to Wishlist.

Changed in php5 (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Wishlist

affects: php5 (Ubuntu) → ubuntu

This package is currently in the Debian NEW queue, which does not allow downloads of the source tarball until it has passed ftpmaster review; and the Debian packaging git tree does not use pristine-tar. Is there somewhere that we can download the orig.tar.gz that has been uploaded to Debian NEW, to ensure we don't have a file mismatch with Debian later?

For reference the Debian ITP bug is https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=801919.

Steve, I think this will dtrt wrt. the versioned dependency you mentioned, on top of the Debian NEW queue build (I just e-mailed the Debian devs to find out if they can provide the orig.tar.gz.).

Via e-mail, Ondřej mentioned:

"I think pristine-tar in php-pear git repository should work. (not able
to check right now though)"

which I think was disabled in gbp.conf via commit ead283c6f335500e0bf6dbe6e67c163c6cb4f714 ?
