Notification sometimes "sticks" upon closing an application

Bug Description

Explanation:

When you open an application that uses a Notification Area applet, sometimes when you close that application the Notification Area applet "sticks". That means that it stays the same size as it was when the application was running (Tomboy as an example). You can try to move the Notification Area but it won't move. It thinks the icon is still there. The only way to repair this is to remove the Notification Area applet from your panel and put a new one in. But it inevitably does the same thing too. Usually happens to me about once a week. Seemingly random as to what causes it to stick.

There has not been a great deal of activity on this bug report. Do you still experience the problem with a newer release of Ubuntu?

More information could be helpful. Use apt-cache policy gnome-panel to see which version you are using.

Also which release are you using now.
