1. PDT required eclipse 3.3
2. If the eclipse package in ubuntu will ever be upgraded to 3.3, the PDT will be available from within eclipse using the eclipse updates system.

It's very easy to install PDT using the all-in-one package (if you are using KDE you might need to install the gnome packages) (tested on Feisty and Gutsy):

1. download the all-in-one package (e.g. http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/tools/pdt/downloads/drops/R20070917/all-in-one/pdt-all-in-one-1.0-R20070917-linux-gtk.tar.gz)

2. extract somewhere nice (/opt/eclipse3.3/)

3. chmod +x /opt/eclipse3.3/eclipse

4. run it - /opt/eclipse3.3/eclipse
