2007-11-27 04:17:33 Saivann Carignan description There are numerous bugs in Ubuntu, which make the OS look unpolished. I propose to add additional functionality to the bug tracking system to make it more easy to identify these kind of bugs. I'd either propose a community driven tagging or a voting system. I would therefore tag certain bugs - like e.g. bug #68370 - to be "embarrassing" or vote for a high "embarrassment" value. A Canonical sponsored or community driven "OS polishing" team then could easily track down these bugs and fix them. This would make it more easy to smoothen the rough edges of Ubuntu and make it appear more polished. **** Vote system / Confirmation system / How to assign blueprint priorities **** Actual malone bug tracking system can use priorities and status but doesn't provide a way to mesure which bugs critically affects a lot of users and which blueprint are the more popular. The vote system could be a simple "Me too" button, something very basic that could be a second help for bug triagers and developers to manage priorities according to the popularity of bugs, and especially, blueprint! This would also have the benefit effect to remove a lot of noise in malone bug tracking system and this would invite new ubuntu users to participate in a easy way. These users could eventually learn more and become great members of the community if they feel that they already make a difference with a simple vote the first time that they come in launchpad. **** Tags for particular embarrassing bugs **** There are numerous bugs in Ubuntu, which make the OS look unpolished. 2008-09-29 03:57:42 Saivann Carignan malone: statusexplanation launchpad beta release 2.1.9 (r7102) now include a pre-functionnality named "Does this bug affect you?", which is exactly what this bug report stands for so this bug might be closed in a short time. Outside of this, feature request like this one should now be posted to brainstorm.ubuntu.com rather than launchpad so developers can review and discuss good ideas. Since this is a feature request more than a bug report, I set the status to invalid. Thanks for the constructive discussion.
