Bug Description

A brand new Dell Latitude E7450, with a fresh installation of Ubuntu 14.04.2. Sometimes a pressed key repeats until another key is pressed. This is presumably a BIOS bug.

Here's a discussion about it in Dell's community website (http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/f/3525/p/19618638/20748484).

Since Canonical have certified this model (http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201408-15385/), I have opened a launchpad question (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-certification/+question/264500) about it.

Since Dell works closely with Canonical on their products, I was wondering whether Canonical can get a formal reply from Dell about this issue (which apparently affects most if not all Linux distributions).

Bios A03 seems to fix the problem. Until now, I can verify that. Other user reporting this issue also as fixed: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/f/3525/t/19618638

Hi Peleg and those who got affected by this issue,

according to the Dell Latitude E7450 A04 BIOS changelog [1], this BIOS update:
"Fixed the multiple characters displayed from a single keystroke when typing in Linux OS."

As this is BIOS related, I will close this bug with "Won't fix", please give that BIOS update a try, and re-open a bug if this issue still exists with BIOS revision A04.

Thanks!

I can confirm - I had this issue with BIOS A02 with Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) and just upgraded it to A06 - keystrokes issue disappeared since then.
