When I press the print screen button, the image captured is not my current window image but the desktop background. I had attempted to restart my Ubuntu but the problem still occurred.

Thanks for helping.

I have this problem too. Intel HD 4000 GPU. Brand new install of 14.10 on a brand new Lenovo X230 Tablet PC.

More details, it's actually not only the desktop, but it seems to be an older shot from earlier in the system bootup. Here's another thread of folks discussing it (not me, I can't post).

Screenshots not working are actually a critical problem for me. I do a lot with social networking (twitter), showing off what I'm working on (gamedev, websites), and I literally can't what I'm doing without a camera now.

I was able to resolve the problem by switching to the oibaf (bleeding edge) graphics drivers. The bug is with the Intel drivers that ship with Ubuntu 14.10.
