System reboots unexpectedly

Bug Description

About once a day Firefox freezes the system which leads immediately to a system reboot. I already had the same problem about 3 1/2 years ago: http://superuser.com/questions/219099/pc-hangs-and-reboots-from-time-to-time
At that time I was able to isolate the problem with auditd daemon while logging all system processes and the last system process before freeze and reboot was access to Firefox (see my answer at SU). The solution was to create just a new profile and it didn't happen again.
Now in 14.04 the same problems occur again but this time creating a new profile didn't help. I thought that it could have anything to do the the graphics drivers but the latest NVIDIA update from NVIDIA site didn't solve it too. Disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox doesn't help too.
I cannot say how to reproduce it. The only thing I can say is that you don't have to actively use Firefox. The freeze/reboot could appear when using Facebook, watching YouTube, but it also appears while doing nothing. Once I didn't use the computer actively, it was just running and suddenly it rebootet from itself. In all cases Firefox was running. I don't have an auditd record from this 14.04 issue yet, but if it could help and you need one, let me know and I try to record the freeze again.

Obviously it's not directly a Firefox problem. Now it happened with Chrome too. I try to figure out, what causes the reboot.

Bevor,

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Presumably this problem was a one time occurrence and/or is no longer an issue? Can this bug report now be closed?

If we do not hear from you the bug report will close itself in approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

I figured out that it's a hardware bug, so no Ubuntu bug.
