This is a fresh install of 14.04 LTS Server on VMware ESXi 5.1 or 5.5, I get the same symptom on both servers.
I installed with OpenSSH and LAMP packages. After the install, the server reboots and comes up OK. I login, immediately type "sudo reboot now" and it begins stopping services. After "Stopping System V runlevel compatibility [OK]" I get
[38.342187] init: Error while reading from descriptor: Bad file descriptor. Then it kicks me back to a prompt. |
