Browse to wired.com any article with a series of photos. Upon clicking next the intel graphics adapter crashes and the screen goes blank. Computer is still responsive I just can't see anything. Usually shut down by hitting power button and then enter.

Has happened several times easily reproducible.

I can reproduce this on a HP 6910p Intel 965 with Ubuntu 14.04. Workaround for me is to use UXA acceleration method instead of SNA.

Create /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf and add:

Section "Device"
   Identifier "Intel Graphics"
   Driver "intel"
