Bug Description

In Ubuntu there is no way to see the virtual network interfaces which are currently present in the system.
I have VMware installed and I have two virtual network interfaces apart from "lo". It will be easier for any new user to find out the interfaces via gui than trying to go for ifconfig. eg

ifconfig

There are 3 virtual network interfaces - lo, vmnet1, vmnet8. None of them are visible from System Settings -> Network.

Since Ubuntu LTS 14.04 will be supported for the next 5 years, I think it should be added as an improvement in the next point release.
