Bug Description

I had Steam installed without an issue in 13.10. I upgraded to 14.04, but now I get "package operation failed". I downloaded it directly from steam.com and set it to open in the software center. That's how I did it in 13.10 and it worked fine. This was originally posted as a question, because I wasn't sure if it qualifed as a bug in a prerelease.

That's right - if you install from the software center in Ubuntu 14.04, it hangs and you get a failed to install error, but if you download the deb package from the Steam web site and install it in Terminal it works just fine. To be on the safe side I installed two 32 bit libraries I found on another discussion - ia32-libs and libcurl:i386; that wouldn't be an issue in 64 bit linux.

My guess is them idiots at Synaptic or whoever haven't updated the software center or the packages; I've run into that all over the place.
