As in summary, there's only one KDE-ish backup software in the repos and backup is VERY important. This one looks decent and is actively maintained.

I agree - As much as we need anything on the DVD iso, a backup solution is needed and would be great to have by default. Since the app you have referenced gets very high marks on the KDE-Apps website, I will download and test and report findings back here for reference.
