Bug Description

After plugging my Fujifilm Finepix F47 usb camera, Ubuntu 7.04 shows up the Camera Import dialog, says it is a USB PTP Class Camera, and even lists the thumbnails of its content, but it does not mount a disk which can be accessed in Nautilus.

Reproduction: Always.

As of Gutsy, Nautilus cannot yet directly access the contents of any USB PTP Class Camera. (this fact is not restricted to a Fujifilm Finepix F47 camera.) I need to use F-Spot photo manager to first import the pictures from the camera to the local filesystem instead, but I see this as an annoyance. Maybe this report is better described as an enhancement to Nautilus. While importing, F-Spot seems to mount the contents of the ptp camera in /store_10000001/, but this mount point is never accessible to Nautilus.

PTP cameras cannot be mounted like a hard disk, you have to use libgphoto (usually a frontend like gthumb, F-spot, or Kamera) to talk to it. Only cameras which provide an 'USB mass storage' interface can be mounted.
