Bug Description

After the system has been running for a while the launchers cease to respond. This happened most recently with the OpenOffice.org launcher but it also occurs with Firefox. I have uninstalled Google Earth as it kept freezing the whole system. On one occasion I got a message that gdm was not working. Rebooting brings things back to normal but it does not last.

What version of Ubuntu are you using? Is this problem still occurring in Gutsy or Hardy?

Thank you for your interest. The version of Ubuntu is not important
right now because I got it wrong. It was a hardware fault, specifically
a bad memory chip. That is why it was difficult to find because each
time the problem was similar but not quite the same. We live and, I
hope, learn. Thank you again,
J R Haisley.
