Bug Description

Testing new hardware with Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS.

Downloading ISO image and installing -> NICs work fine.

Trying to install from PXE using the Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS netinstall image -> No NICs detected

Comparing:

ISO Image installation provides Kernel 3.8.

PXE Image installation provides Kernel 3.2 which is not mature enough for new Intel NICs.

Why are the ISO image kernel and the netinstall kernel not in sync?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1250761/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Since http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/netboot/12.04/ is now offering the possibility to load images with distinct kernels (which wasn't like that in November 2013) I assume that the problem is solved by using the netinstall image with kernel 3.11.
