Bug Description
VirtualBox supplies a completely open-source version of its product under the GPL2. This virtualization suite uses an interesting method of virtualization in which it runs Ring-0 code in Ring-1 where possible; and where not, rewrites Ring-0 code to avoid trap-and-emulate conditions. This gives it speeds comparable to VMware in use, and thus would seem interesting for Ubuntu to ship as a Main-level virtualization product.
VirtualBox OSE should fit into Ubuntu as Free software due to its GPLv2 license, although I have not investigated if there are any traps such as a binary blob kernel driver. Due to its support for MacOSX and Microsoft Windows host OSes, Ubuntu could eventually offer it as a Free software demo on Windows and, once installed, allow the user to run the LiveCD with it.
