A browser plugin to view embedded videos, depends on GNOME Mplayer (also in need of packaging: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/121301) a successor to mplayer-plugin (already in the repos) from the same author - the former is no longer actively developed. See the website http://dekorte.homeip.net/download/gecko-mediaplayer/ for details.
It should be better designed and also work not only with gecko based browsers, but with Konqueror and Opera as well.
Oh, and if you were to try this plugin with firefox, you are likely to see it cause a 100% CPU usage. That is likely a bug in Ubuntu, not this package, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/120781

Are you aware that this does _not_ work withouth GNOME Mplayer? The link to corresponding bug (that is ,a wish for packaging) is in the description.

Since gnome-mplayer is already in gutsy, I think it could make sense to have gecko-media-player too. Could you make a package targeted for hardy and upload it to REVU?
