Hello Abdo,

Dell Poweredge is not the place to file bugs for Inspiron Laptops. It PowerEdge is for Servers only. Dell-sputnik is also a repository for a specific Dell laptop model, the XPS 13. Please do not use any of the packages for either dell poweredge or sputnik as they won't work on your system.

Also, 11.10 Ubuntu has reached end of life as of April of this year. Please consider upgrading your laptop to version 12.04 which is supported for the next 4 years, and it is certified with 12.04:

affects: dell-poweredge → ubuntu

i can install ubuntu 12.04 but i do have a few questions,as u can see from this picture i have got 3 partitions
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/90/screenshotat20130415135.png/
dell utility and OS and the ext4

1: what is the dell utility ( important )

2: the OS size is 1.34 GB while the normal one is 700MB ,why the preloaded have that much size ? i dell added the extra files ? and in that case the 12.04 wont have the same Features or Advantages like 11.10

3: i have got dell recovery , and i will like to add the recovery icon to the installed ubuntu like this one http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/14/dellrecovery.png/

1: (/dev/sda1) The Dell Utility is some kind of Windows recovery partition (don't touch it)
2: That question doesn't make sense. You installed Ubuntu to /dev/sda3, not to /dev/sda2. The "OS" partition is probably your original WIndows partition (don't touch it if still using Windows).

Okay, it makes sense now :)

Ubuntu looks to be installed on /dev/sda3 (gparted lists that as the root partition and it's the only partition with enough used space to hold Ubuntu)

the /dev/sda1 partition is probably still some kind of Dell recovery partition and I still wouldn't touch it.

/dev/sda2 might be a separate /boot partition?

the sda1 is 4 MB used. so its looks like a pointer to the os source partition
sda2 carrying the OS it self, but the ubuntu size is 700 and used size here is 1.5 GB
so as i can understant that this ubuntu source is customized from ubuntu el suite the dell am i right ?
but this is huge space !!
here is my installed drivers

i can't see my replay's here, so have u received the recovery and the partitions pictures ?

Abdo Refky, when you upgraded to/installed a supported release, is this issue reproducible?

If so, could you please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 1175747

affects: ubuntu → linux (Ubuntu)
