Quit (red circle w/Black X )stalls sometimes

When quiting a window by clicking the red circle with the black X, Ubuntu will freeze for about 20 sec and then close the window. This appears to only occur when using the red circle in the upper left corner at random intervals, not every time.. The tab Quit seems to work every time. I reported this before and it was closed without fixing.
