Bug Description
This is not a bug exactly... but I don't know how to ask for a feature request... perhaps going "up" to debian would be a more appropiate place.
I was just reading an article of someone "complaining" about the massive options available to someone who just wants to install a "text editor" or a "medias player". How about being able to see how popular a package is among the repositories? That sounds like quite a change in the apt package management... but it could ease choosing the right package (at least the most popular) instead of looking at the 50 different packages available for each task. A colored bar in synaptic could be a hint.
Just a thought.
