Bug Description
Using a Toshiba Satellite A105. After being unable to upgrade from Edgy Eft to Feisty Fawn, I just reinstalled the whole OS from a new image. Everything in Feisty works fine except for sound (and out-of-the-box media compatibility, but that's another issue). Sound worked fine in Edgy, but I think losing sound in this update is a fair trade for Ubuntu not forgetting about my USB mouse. Still, I'd like sound back.
The volume control on the taskbar just shows an icon with a red cross-out blip over it. Volume Control > Open Volume Control gives a blank window, but the menu options still work. File > Change Device only shows "HDA ATI SB (Alsa mixer)". Edit > Preferences shows a check-box dialog with "Caller ID" and "Off-hook". Volume Control > Preferences doesn't return anything right now, though previously it popped a dialog that said it didn't know and that it was either GStreamer's or the driver's fault.
More after the jump...
Step five returns a "file not found" output.
