Bug Description

In ubuntu Feisty Amarok, rhytmbox, vlc, mplayer, audacity, xmms (i suppose all other progs) stop working after they try to play mp3 files and videos and they crash.

I have added all the restricted repository and medibuntu plugins.

How can I fix this?

I have heard others people having problems with Feisty and audio & video support.

Does anyone know how to fix this? (I had no problem with Edgy 6.10)

Thankyou for you bug report.
To get mp3 support in feisty only Click Applications → Add/Remove. In the top right, change the setting to All available applications. Then select Other in the left panel and then select the Ubuntu restricted extras package. Click OK.
Third-party repository of Medibuntu is for Apple Quicktime or RealVideo.

Please include the information requested from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingHardwareDetection as separate attachments.
Give me /etc/apt/sources.list too

I have mp3 and video support but when the programs play these files after 5 seconds they stop working and they crash.
In my first post I meant I have done this step: added Applications → Add/Remove. In the top right, change the setting to All available applications.
I don't know why these programs stop working.

Edgy 6.10 was perfect to play .mp3 .avi .dvx .wav .mpeg. In ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 I can't play a full song or a full video 'cause the programs crash.

I hope there is a fix.

No 'cause amarok is not the only programs that has problem. With all audio and video players i have problem never had before with edgy.

These programs can play the file for 5 or 6 seconds then they crash or if they don't crash I can't hear sounds when they fail to play.

Launchpad Janitor (janitor) wrote : This bug is now reported against the 'linux' package

Beginning with the Hardy Heron 8.04 development cycle, all open Ubuntu kernel bugs need to be reported against the "linux" kernel package. We are automatically migrating this bug to the new "linux" package. However, development has already began for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. It would be helpful if you could test the upcoming release and verify if this is still an issue - http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . If the issue still exists, please update this report by changing the Status of the "linux" task from "Incomplete" to "New". We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this transition. Thanks!
