Intermittant Corrupted screen, constant flash crashes/ plug-in issues, can't find "start" or many other things, new to ubuntu but everything was fine'til upgrade. I was talked into this system as not being affected by viruses but can't get help easily & isp techs, Zynga etc know nothing about UBUNTU when I call for help with issues

Bug Description
I got to this point because I was trying to uninstall google chrome as I am having problems with it since the upgrade & am ready to PAY someone to see if I have to remove UBUNTU completely & get Windows or whatever as my boyfriend keeps telling me. I had some struggles before, but now am angry every time I try to use my computer. No loading, crashing after loading, freezing, corrupted screen which makes it impossible to read. Hours where it should take minutes, which is the opposite of how a computer should function, supposed to help not hinder your life. Right? Sorry for my tone, I have been struggling with this for far too long! This is the latest system upgrade. Thank you for your assistance. Sincerely, Melinda
PS, I don't know how to find #'s 1 & 2 but I hope I have provided enough info for #'s 3 & 4.
