Ubuntu 12.04LTS: Some texts unreadable due to colours in themes, cannot be changed.

I recently updated to 12.04, and when trying to install new applications with the application manager, I noticed that the text in the application list is white on white background, except when the application description is selected. This also occurs with file browsers such as Nautilus. Also the text that appears on images when hovering your cursor over them on Firefox are black on black background. All the default themes have this problem.
I downloaded some applications that let you choose colours in the interface, since Ubuntu 12.04 doesn't provide its own, but they didn't help.
I'm not sure which information to provide here, since it doesn't seem to actually depend on the application. I'm using HP EasyNote TJ61 laptop, with Ubuntu 12.04.01 LTS.

This kind of font issues has been discussed on ubuntuforums a while back. Most of the time it can be solved by either:
- switch theme(s)
- rename (or delete) the borked files: .config, .fontconfig, .gconf, .local, .gnome2

then logout/in (the previous hidden files are recreated cleanly)

Thank you, you saved me alot of nerves.
Switching themes did not help, as I stated in the bug report. The latter solution, however, did.
