In sessions goes to login

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-session

I have been experiencing random GUI login while being inside of session. Also the session is not saved as it is. as in graceful shutdown.
After few minutes, hrs. suddenly one is kicked off the existing session & dumped back to the login screen. The system does not go to halt, or reboot or anything like that. It just takes you to the login. When one logs back in, then all the things one was working in the session just before is not there. Although all the changes of work have been saved by the various applications. It is as if there was no session in-between.

Thank you for your bug. That looks like an xorg crash. Do you have anything to /var/log/messages,syslog,Xorg.0.log about that? What videocard and driver do you use?

Changed in gnome-session:
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: Unconfirmed → Needs Info

I would not know where to start looking or what to look for hence attaching all the 3 logs. I am using an integrated i845 G/GL Intel Express chipset :-

 lspci |grep Graphics
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 03)

The driver I am using is the http://users.tkk.fi/~tjaalton/xorg72/new/xserver-xorg-video-intel_1.9.93-1ubuntu1_i386.deb made by https://bugs.launchpad.net/~tepsipakki . See bug #90213 . Perhaps that is the reason, do not know.

I know these are big dumps, but if they are useful it would be good. Alternatively, if you can guide me what I need to search for, when the next crash happens I would immediately look at System > Administration > Log Viewer . Of course I would need some instructions for the same. Thank you for your support :)

Just so there is no confusion, I get to a normal gdm login, not text login or anything.

not a GNOME bug, unassign, might be due to the video driver which is not an Ubuntu version
