Bug Description

Netgear WPN 511 is recognized on startup but will not connect to the network without being cycled. It will not connect to default network when others are present. It insists on trying to connect to the strongest signal. I had to remove NetworkManager Gnome applet to be able to connect to my network.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Do you have interface configured in '/etc/network/interfaces'? Thanks in advance.

Brian, I pasted my interface file here for your review. As a side note,
everything was ok in 6.06 and 6.10. I'm not sure why I have eth0 and
eth1

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

iface eth0 inet dhcp

auto eth1
iface eth1 inet dhcp

auto eth2
iface eth2 inet dhcp

auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp

auto eth0

iface ath0 inet static
address 192.168.0.3
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.0.1
wireless-essid myhouse
wireless-key I removed it from this msg

auto ath0

I am under the impression that you have removed Network Manager and this has resolved you issue, is that correct? Network Manager will conflict with an interface that is configured in '/etc/network/interfaces' and your ath0 interface seems to be configured there. If you connect to multiple wireless access points I would recommend using Network Manager as it is easier to switch networks and setup new ones.

The situation is not resolved. I still have to cycle the card to get it
to connect. In 6.06 and 6.10 there was no need to cycle the card, it
just worked.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Now that the final version of Feisty Fawn is available we were wondering if this issue still exists. Thanks in advance.
