Bug Description

SRU Justification:
------------------

* This is more a request (rather than a bug) to add support for the newest OSA-Express7S (network-) card,
so that even cosmic and bionic users should be able to benefit from it.

* The support became upstream accepted with 4.20, mainly with commit

[Test Case]

* Due to the absence of that particular card in our (Canonical) system, the testing is up to IBM.

* The recognition of the card type itself can be done via 'lsqeth | grep card_type',

* and the functionality can be tested by network test tools, like stress-ng.

* A regression test can of course be done on our (Canonical) system.

[Regression Potential]

* The regression potential can be considered as low since it only affects the s390x platform

* and there only the qeth driver/module.

* The patch itself is less complex and adds mainly lines and fields for the recognition of the new card.

* The entire code needed is already included in disco and a sniff test was done based on disco's kernel 5.0.
__________

Function:
Provide enhanced link speed for OSA networks
Business Case:
Improved performance with OSA networks

Available with kernel 4.20
Git-Commit: s390/qeth: report 25Gbit link speed [54e049c227]

This function need also be applied to Cosmic and Bionic.
Important for Bionic LTS kernel in support of this new OSA card....

I did a regression test and ran iperf3 (single thread and 4 threads in parallel) from cosmic to bionic (bionic target) and vice versa (cosmic target) a couple of times.
On top of that I'm of course also remotely connected to these system via OSA (since some hours) using the updated/expanded driver.
Everything looks good and is stable so far - I also did not noticed any performance degradation (by accident I ran some tests earlier this week and compared the throughput, and it's virtually the same).
All this done on z13 with OSA Express 5S.

Hello IBM,

Could you please verify if the Bionic and Cosmic kernels work as expected with the OSA-Express7S adapter?

Thank you.

Hi Kleber, the cosmic and bionic systems that I updated with the kernel(s) from proposed are running now for more than 11 days without any issues, hence I would call that verified successful - if it's okay and sufficient for you, too.
