Thanks for your bug. The press release does not mention that this is a derivative of Ubuntu. Can you provide a link to a document which confirms this?

Thanks for pointing it out
they really *do* seem to be a bit coy about admitting where the base
came or comes from!
the earliest I can see is

PRESS RELEASE - December 4, 2006
http://www.tapioneer.com/press/120406_Rel.htm
Technalign has partnered directly with Canonical and is using
Kubuntu/Ubuntu as the base. Pioneer is a derivative of Ubuntu and not
a fork.

PRESS RELEASE - January 25, 2007
http://www.tapioneer.com/press/012507_Rel.htm
Coupled with Kubuntu, Pioneer Basic R2 is perfect for both the
beginner and experienced Linux user.

====================================
Note:
I have emailed Pioneer as follows:

I was trying to advertise pioneer on the ubuntu sites as one of thu
buntu (kde) derivatives, however, unfortunately your recent press
release has no mention of kubuntu, so I am now unsure.

I believe that Pioneer will gain from a wider spread of publicity, as
will (K)Ubuntu, and of course Linux in general, if there could be a
unified focus.

Please would you comment to me on the relationship of Pioneer and
Kubuntu? Is Pioneer based in some part on Kubuntu - a rough percentage
estimate perhaps?

If you would prefer to distance your product from Kubuntu I would
understand, although I would be sad about this.
