Bug Description

From the ubuntu.com website: "Our office applications, for example, are fully compatible with Microsoft Office and have everything you need to create professional documents."
http://www.ubuntu.com/business/desktop/windows-compatible

A user installed Ubuntu because the site advertises 100% compatibility. When it didn't work, a colleague of his sent him to me. In the end I reinstalled Windows 7, MS Office and a few other applications on his computer.

LibreOffice (and OOo) is completely compatible with MS Office. I use it on a regular basis with people who run Windows.

this is too strong a claim to make. It has a high degree of compatibility certainly, but "fully compatible" is an objective standard that is not met (and as the microsoft thing is a closed product it is impossible to verify full compatibility but it is possible to prove that it is not fully compatible). We should not be making stronger claims of compatibility than the upstream is doing.

I can't see anywhere the phrase fully compatible is used. Looks a pretty accurate description of the level of compatibility to me. Am I missing a reference? Otherwise I suggest we close this.

Just replace the word “fully” with “highly” or rewrite that paragraph a bit.

this is a bit of a liability under trade descriptions, it needs fixing before a problem happens.

Not fixed, the offending text has been moved to this page:
http://www.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/features/office-applications

I quote from that page:
"Ubuntu is fully compatible with Microsoft Office."

Sorry about that, didn't notice it had been moved. I've updated the copy to read 'highly' instead of 'fully'.
