Bug Description

http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=cmake

On that page, there is no indication of what codename corresponds to which release.

Ubuntu people constantly remind that the codename is only valid for the development cycle. After release, the name is no longer used and the number is used instead. Clearly, that is not the case on packages.ubuntu.com.

Please list the packages that are packaged in which ubuntu release. Don't make me manually map the name with google.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1275506/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Very strange.

Going from a bug report to a non-public non-archived, non-tracking email from me to <email address hidden> is a step backwards in process.

The codename is not only valid for the development cycle, this is unfortunately a false reasoning. It is actually appearing in the APT configuration on where to pull packages and updates from, so it is very valid and indeed importantly used. Given that the packages website is about packages that you install on your system, the connection between the codename in the APT configuration file sources.list and its usage on the packages website is there.

There is no need to map through google, the mapping is at the main page at http://packages.ubuntu.com/. Said that, it could indeed be visible in the overview. I've digged into the code and found a place where I could add it. Is this addition suiting for you: http://packages.ubuntu.com/cmake - it has the versions next to the codenames. It is also now part of the breadcrumbs at the top of http://packages.ubuntu.com/saucy/cmake so I guess that should solve this issue.

Enjoy,
Rhonda
