Bug Description
1. Go to the 404 page. On apps.ubuntu.com for example, <https:/
What you see:
* "This page does not exist. Well, obviously this page exists. But the page you requested does not exist. This page is just here to tell you that the page you requested does not exist."
* "You can use the search box above to find what you need. Or you can make a fresh start at the Ubuntu home page."
What you should see:
* An error message that doesn't refer to the error page itself. It's ok to be light-hearted, but this is just navel-gazing.
* If doing a global search is the primary next step from this page (which it is), the global search field should not be in its usual place. Instead it should be placed where the suggestion is -- as it is on <https:/

Sorry, we couldn't find the page you were looking for
Please use the search box above to find what you need. Alternatively, you can make a fresh start at the Ubuntu home page.
Note that the Canonical 404 page displays different text: http:// www.canonical. com/404
Both pages should offer the same messaging, IMHO.
